DERRIMON TRADING GROUP DEBUTS ‘BOOKS & BREAKFAST’ INITIATIVE FOR CHILD MONTH
INTRODUCES NEW DELECT FRANKFURTERS
(Kingston, Jamaica) Derrimon Trading Company Limited (DTL) kicked off its “Books and Breakfast” series as part of Child Month and Read Across Jamaica Day celebrations, introducing its newest product from the Delect Foods brand: Delect Frankfurters. This initiative offered students and teachers an exclusive preview and taste of the new product while reinforcing the importance of a nutritious breakfast in enhancing students’ focus and enthusiasm for learning. The inaugural events at Franklin Town Primary and Whitfield Primary, held during Education Week, provided students and staff with gifts and the joy of reading, all while starting their days with a wholesome breakfast. .
“I’m thrilled to announce the soft launch of our Delect Frankfurters, a delicious and nutritious food option geared specifically towards children,” says Monique Cotterell, Group Human Resource Director and Company Secretary, DTL. “We’re especially excited to introduce this new product alongside our ‘Books & Breakfast’ initiative, which emphasises the importance of a healthy breakfast for students’ academic performance and overall well-being. This initiative aligns perfectly with Child’s Month celebrations, and we’re proud to partner with local schools to promote literacy and healthy eating habits among our island’s youth.”
During the visit, the DTL Team engaged with Grades 3, 4, and 6 at Franklin Town Primary, and Grades 1, 3, 5 & 6 at Whitfield Primary. Additionally, representatives from our Sales team visited Waterford Primary, Bethel Baptist Basic, and Harrison’s Prep. Students participated in interactive readings on topics such as the Solar System, Planet Earth, and African Heritage, from a variety of books, including those by local Jamaican authors. Each school received a donation of books for the school’s library and reading corners. Students were also presented with Delect Goody bags as prizes for participating in Q&A sessions, while teachers were recognized with baskets filled with the Delect line of products courtesy of the DTL Group of companies. The entire school was treated to a ‘Delect’ breakfast featuring a series of Delect products – Delect Frankfurters, Cornmeal Porridge made with Delect Coconut Milk as well as a series of fruit juices made with Delect Cordials.

Derrimon’s donation of books to the school’s libraries underscores DTL’s commitment to facilitating a culture of literacy amongst Jamaica’s youth. DTL remains dedicated to empowering our future leaders through literacy and education.
